New month, new game updates. At this point I cannot keep up. THERE’S SO MANY GAMES THAT I HAVE YET TO PLAY! And so many more to review. I honestly don’t know why I’m still writing about games even though I barely get time to finish any of them. I mean as a part of my job I still gotta review them, y’know. Obviously the review has to be authentic so, as usual, I have to weave in my own experiences and my boring ass life stories because I don’t want the site to be flagged as some ChatGPT content.
My boss is extremely gracious and a decent person – I’ve worked with them since 2018 at GamersOutlet.net and no matter how many challenges the world, the algorithm or my life throws at me, I’ve never once missed a payment or an opportunity to do better from their side. Which is why I’m still half-ass reviewing games whenever I get the chance. There was a time when I made the perfect recipe of prompts that would write the articles for me, but hey, the algorithms have changed and forced me to do something that I both actively avoid and want to do very badly at the same time – writing. No, I’m not talking about my avoidant ex’s attitude towards me. Although you may say it is quite similar. Yeowch.
This month (Jesus, I’m already writing this in June ffs, but whatever) we take a look at my top favorites!
DOOM: THE DARK AGES
If you’re a DOOM fan, this is not even news. And you can’t even expect something too bad from id Software. Like, I get having “no high expectations” or “keeping your hopes low” and preparing for the worst – unfortunately that mentality just doesn’t work for id. They have constantly worked hard to give the players exactly what they want and MORE, not to forget the countless updates, fixes and DLC additions of which most were very pleasant (morbidly ruthless in DOOM’s case).
This game somehow reinvents the old style yet keeping it classic, fresh and nostalgic at the same time which is a very difficult task to accomplish. This medieval-styled prequel shifts from the series’ signature run‑and‑gun gameplay to a tankier, “stand‑and‑fight” style—arming the Slayer with new tools like the Shield Saw, electrified gauntlet, spiked mace, and massive weapons such as mechs and dragons. Critics love the fresh combat overhaul, praising the parry mechanics, visceral melee, and epic scale. While some note it leans heavily on tradition, most agree it’s a thrilling evolution that ups the franchise’s intensity. There’s like 22 levels of absolute raw madness and I haven’t finished all of them obviously and it hurts my OCD but hey, at least I’m writing about it.
It released on May 15 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
MONSTER TRAIN 2
This is the most random game ever but it is actually so good. Monster Train 2, out on May 21, 2025, is the sequel to the hit deck-building roguelike Monster Train. You’re the conductor of a demon-filled train, and your goal is to defend the Pyre at the top while enemies climb aboard from below.
I love rogue-like games. They have such a cool vibe to them that is just unexplainable. Alright I’m gonna try. Have you ever played Neon Abyss? Or Kingdom Two Crowns? Or Dead Cells? Idk. That’s the vibe. Am I depressed? Most likely. Am I salty about it? Most definitely. Am I doing something about it? Hell yeah (I think). Let’s get back to this game before I get sidetracked again wtf.
THIS GAME HAS A 10/10 ON STEAM. Game Informer calls it “one of my favorite roguelikes of the year”; PC Gamer says it’s “a devilish deckbuilder… worthy sequel” and GamesRadar hails it as a “first-class ride” with bold innovations . Reddit fans appreciate the enhanced multi-floor deployments and tougher challenge that deepens the strategy. I haven’t even played the first one but the sequel was so good. Maybe I should go play Monster Train 1 first and then compare the two.
INTO THE RESTLESS RUINS
I found this underrated gem when I was looking into the games that were releasing in May and saw this pop up. I absolutely love the artwork, design, overall gameplay and OST this game brings to you. Packed with Scottish folklore, pixel-art charm, and real-time auto-battles, it nails the addictive “just one more run” loop. I’ve had so many of these with random dungeon crawling games. Unfortunately I have to quickly sidetrack and ask you guys a question. Do people who play indie games, (especially the ones I’ve listed and mentioned in this article) are mentally okay? My answer is a strong, resounding NO. I swear, man – no person I’ve met who plays Undertale or artsy games like those is stable. They’re creative geniuses sure, and they’re SO DAMN talented but when it comes to real life, they’re not okay.
I don’t know what’s worse. People who play CS2, DOTA2, WOW, LOL or these artsy babies. I want to Kurt Cobain myself at this point. Anyway, you should check out our main website GAMERSOUTLET.NET for more, we’re good at what we do, our prices are amazing and our service is even better. Go grab yourself a nice game and while you’re at it, decide what type of a person you are lmao. A classic fuck you to all French people as usual – take care to the rest of you and see you in the next article
