Diablo V: 3 Reasons We Can’t Wait for Release

Blizzard revealed Diablo V at BlizzCon 2026, with a spring 2029 release window and a premise that immediately caught our attention. The reveal trailer opens the door to a very different chapter for the series.

There’s a long wait ahead, though. If you’re already itching to buy an action RPG key and start chasing loot, we’ve also picked a game from Gamers-Outlet to keep you busy. You’ll see… below 😉

Watch the official Diablo V reveal trailer, then let’s get into the three things we’re most excited about.

1. A Fallen Sanctuary Could Make Exploration Feel Dangerous Again

The interesting question is what happens after Diablo wins. You play the Heir to Westmarch, travelling through the remains of a kingdom under his control. A caravan of survivors accompanies you, bringing vendors and companions onto the road.

That travelling community is the detail that has us hooked. We want reasons to care about the people surviving alongside us, especially when the world outside looks determined to eat them. A familiar face at the end of a horrible journey could make the whole adventure feel more personal.

Blizzard also describes a procedural landscape where terrain, enemies and rewards can change when you return. If that idea works in practice, revisiting an area could involve fresh decisions and discoveries. We’re hoping exploration keeps that sense of unease even after we’ve learned how to make demons explode efficiently.

2. The Plague Knight Is Already Tempting Us Away From Old Favorites

Choosing a first character is serious business. You spend ages comparing options, confidently make a decision, and then see someone else doing something ridiculous with another class. Suddenly, you’re back at character creation.

Diablo V has already revealed the returning Demon Hunter and Monk, alongside the new Plague Knight. Blizzard describes the newcomer as a heavily armored fighter who spreads disease across the battlefield and consumes it for power.

That sounds like a promising foundation for players who enjoy setting up an attack and deciding when to cash in. We still need to see detailed skills and builds before judging how it actually feels, but the class fantasy alone has our attention.

The returning favorites also give longtime fans somewhere familiar to start. These are only the first three classes revealed, so there’s more character choice to come. Our supposedly sensible plan is to wait for the full lineup before committing. We’ll see how long that lasts.

3. The Loot Chase Is Taking Inspiration From Diablo II

For all the excitement around the setting, the real test comes when a monster drops something interesting. Does it make you reconsider your equipment? Does it inspire another build? Or does it disappear into the sell pile without a second thought?

Blizzard is revisiting ideas associated with Diablo II, including equipment that occupies different amounts of inventory space. Set items are returning, and the team is experimenting with stat requirements on gear.

The appeal for us is having more reasons to think about an item before equipping it. Finding something that opens up a new possibility is far more memorable than replacing a sword because one number went up. There’s an encouraging accessibility goal, too. In a TechRadar interview, senior game director Joe Shely explained that some complexity is being reserved for the endgame, giving campaign players room to enjoy the adventure while dedicated build enthusiasts get deeper systems later.

That’s an appealing balance. It remains a development goal, and we’ll want to see the finished systems before declaring the loot problem solved.

Deal Spotlight: What Should You Play Until Diablo V?

Want to revisit Sanctuary? Our Diablo III Battle Chest PC Battle.net key bundles Diablo III and Reaper of Souls. It’s currently out of stock, so check the product page for availability.

For something you can pick up while waiting, our recommendation is Torchlight II for PC on Steam. Its four classes, randomized levels, loot hunting and online or LAN co-op make it an easy game to consider if Diablo has put you in an action RPG mood.

Expect a brighter adventure with plenty of room to experiment. There’s even a pet that can head back to town and sell your unwanted loot. Finally, someone willing to help with the inventory problem.

Check the current Torchlight II key price at Gamers-Outlet and get a few dungeon runs in while Blizzard builds its next trip to Hell. You have enough time!
