Three Games To Play In August 2025

August is delivering some serious heat on the gaming front – from gritty espionage revamps to soul-stirring surf-sword adventures, and the fresh MVP of football sims. Just a heads up if you’re not American, NFL is American football. It fucking sucks and it’s not even real football but who likes the US and their residents anyway. I mean I’m only kidding haha (im not). Anyway, if you’re still stuck choosing your next obsession, these three games deserve a spot on your radar: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Sword of the Sea, and Madden NFL 26.

I really do want to spend more time playing and reviewing these games but, I’m also on vacation in the south of France and trying my best to enjoy the time I have with my friends (and also spotting some chaya baddies and trying to make it work BUT ITS NOT FKN WORKING AS I DONT SPEAK FRENCH AND THEY DONT SPEAK ENGLISH but whatever). Someone needs to rescue me from this place or I’m gonna go crazy fr fr ong. Fun fact: I spoke to two of them and they both sort of didn’t understand me but they were INSANE 11/10 baddies so I’m still happy I went lol. Let’s get back to gaming jesus I am getting too good at sidetracking and need to focus on these 3 games (not these other games if you know what I mean hehe)

Let’s quickly dive in and give you guys a brief overview. For context, these are recurring (monthly) top 3 game recommendations from our team (me lol) that sort of play into our own personal interests and are also a dive into the Gamers-Outlet.net team’s inner gaming personality. So sit back, and enjoy. There’s gonna be one of these each month!

1. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Release Date: August 28, 2025
Platforms: PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X/S

This isn’t just a shiny remaster – it’s “MGS3” brought into the Unreal Engine 5 era. Every shadow, texture, and creeping vine is re-crafted from scratch, while the original Cold War espionage drama remains untouched. You get stealth, suspense, and storytelling that still hits hard, but with modern visuals, 3D audio, and options like a smooth-over-the-shoulder mode or the classic top-down legacy style.

Oh, and they’re sneaking treats depending on your platform: Sony gets Snake vs Monkey, while Xbox scores Snake vs Bomberman – both quirky, off-the-wall mini modes to lighten the tension. Purists and newcomers alike are buzzing; early previews call it a meticulous remake, honoring every fan-favorite moment.

2. Sword of the Sea

Release Date: August 19, 2025
Platforms: PC (Steam), PS5 (Day-1 on PS Plus)

From the creators of Journey and ABZÛ, this game nails that ethereal, atmosphere-first vibe. You play as a silent Wraith, cutting across a parched wasteland on a “hoversword” = basically a surfboard-sword hybrid. Your mission? Bring the ocean back, restore life, and vibe with ambient visuals and a soundtrack by Austin Wintory that hits right in the feels.

It’s nonviolent, dreamy, and honestly feels like therapy. Some early hands-on impressions say it pulled off “artsy skateboarding pro mode,” with aesthetics so mesmerizing you might kinda forget you’re playing a game. It really reminds me of a lot of other random cool games based on its graphics, especially the VERY old Aladdin game from the early 2000s, or like that one cool mission from Dying Light 2 (that is an Easter egg btw). Or Prince of Persia vibes. Idk it just makes me feel nostalgic af.

3. Madden NFL 26

Release Date: August 14, 2025 (Early Access Aug 7 with Deluxe/MVP Bundle)
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2

Madden’s back and looking sharper than ever – especially in Franchise mode, which may just be the glimmer of hope long-time fans needed. The game introduces QB DNA, so each quarterback moves and reacts like their real-life counterparts; Josh Allen’s scramble instinct, Lamar Jackson’s animations, it’s uncanny.

Franchise mode? Transformed. You’ve got wearable-over-time systems, dynamic coaches with real strategy styles, and even broadcast-style halftime shows with Rich Eisen and Scott Hanson narrating your season’s highs and lows. Oh, and the cover athlete…Saquon Barkley: Makes history with a wild reverse hurdle move straight onto the box art. The worst part about this game is that I actually like it despite hating American football. I’m not even European but I do enjoy regular football more than ts. But yeah, even after all that, it’s a decent game. Obviously since we are based in the States and we gotta cater to some of you mfs based there, I GOTTA WRITE THIS REVIEW. Okay I’m exaggerating but you get my point.

Critics are calling it “the best Madden in a decade,” even if loading screens and minor glitches are the only spoilers in the party. Reddit chatter is positive too. People hype the Superstar mode, coach customizations, and deeper gameplay… but yeah, menus need speed tuning.

Why These Games Deserve Your August

  • Metal Gear Solid is nostalgia done right. Faithful, cinematic, and packed with modern polish.
  • Sword of the Sea is like drifting into a painting (well, almost). Meditative, beautiful, and hauntingly original.
  • Madden NFL 26 resurrects the series with smart gameplay upgrades and immersive storytelling that even non-football fans can appreciate. Except Europeans. Because unlike Americans we ACTUALLY do play football.

Pick your vibe: stealthy jungle ops, artistic desert surfing, or gridiron drama – August has everything you need for this summer. I’m looking forward to September already though, but that’s just how I am haha.
