December’s shaping up to be a fun month for gamers. Christmas is basically here (it started in November for all purposes because I don’t like the fact that this holiday is only there for a week)… As the year winds down, we get a mix of rhythm-driven indie flair, chaotic arcade sports, and big-budget action. If you’re wondering what to play during the holidays, we recommend these games – across different genres, for different types of mood. As long as its not depressing, we are good. A lot of people I know struggle HEAVILY with 2 things during winter – lack of family time and lack of Vitamin D (I can help with that)

Assassin’s Creed Shadows (Switch 2 version)
Release date: December 2, 2025 — Nintendo Switch 2
Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2 (the earlier PC/PS5/Xbox versions already dropped in March).
What makes this December release interesting isn’t that the game is brand new — but that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally landing on Switch 2. For couple years, Shadows has already made waves on PC and consoles with its dual protagonists, feudal-Japan setting, and deep stealth + action gameplay. On Switch 2, it brings virtually the full package = updated content, portable-and-docked play, and cross-platform save support via Ubisoft Connect. Touch-screen controls for menus and maps are part of the deal too. I fucking hate Ubisoft personally because they still haven’t fixed the Siege loading times. It takes forEVER to start the damn game and it doesn’t fucking matter if you have the best gaming PC or not. Still shit.
For fans who have avoided it because of their hardware, or just want a big open-world RPG they can play on-the-go or on the couch, this Switch 2 port is perfect. Shadows offers flexible playstyles: you can go full-stealth as Naoe the shinobi, or go bold as Yasuke the samurai. The mechanics are built to satisfy both classic AC stealth fans and those who lean toward action-heavy combat. The verticality, parkour revival, and dual-character dynamic still deliver.
If you’ve been holding back on a Switch 2 purchase or a fresh Assassin’s Creed run, December 2 gives you a solid excuse. And, I mean, Switch 2 is an insanely good investment. You gotta hand it to Nintendo. It’s a great console… Until the Steam Machine releases and MAYBE we have a brand new favorite console lmao
Unbeatable

Want something different for the holidays? Unbeatable is a rhythm-adventure game that hits just before things get hectic — and it’s bringing a vibe like nothing else this month. You play as “Beat” and her band, rebel musicians on the run in a world where music is outlawed. Think: dystopia meets foot-stomping tracks and neon-soaked rebellion.
Early impressions from the hype community call it stylish, emotionally charged, and musically satisfying. The game uses its soundtrack as more than background; music fuels movement, choices, and narrative beats. If you like games with rhythm, soul, and a bit of attitude, Unbeatable could be your kind of escape.
The art style is definitely something to talk about. Imho it looks beautiful and immerses you way more into the game and the story and really does show you that indie game devs put SO MUCH effort into whatever they create, out of pure passion. And that’s both admirable and respectable!
It’s a holiday-ready indie pick, and if you want to try something that doesn’t involve gunfire or gridiron violence, Unbeatable offers a refreshing change of pace. Kinda aesthetic and chill vibe, reminds me of the time I would play Moonlighter in the cozy winter. Great RPG btw if you haven’t checked it out, part 2 of the game is also out now and I’ll review it soon hehehe!
Mutant Football League 2

For those who want mayhem, over-the-top action, and a thick slice of chaos wrapped in sports uniforms, Mutant Football League 2 lands right when winter sets in. The game revives the cult-classic Mutant League tradition — imagine football meets madness: teams of mutants, monsters, undead, robots, and more battling it out in violent, trap-filled arenas. Buzz saws. Exploding players. Gore. Glory. It’s basically “sports” for people who hate subtlety. And I kinda dig that kinda shit lmao. Absolutely no supression and full-on battle trauma, DOOM style – but with football…
MFL 2 brings arcade-style 8-on-8 football to modern consoles and PC — but the rules are twisted. Instead of realistic seasons and transfers, expect mayhem, sabotage, brutal power-ups, stadium traps, and a roster of monstrous teams you build yourself. There’s a single-player Season mode, a “Dynasty Supreme” mode where you manage a team over time, and multiplayer chaos if you want to go head-to-head with friends. I always think to myself that this game is probably what the demons in hell call Football Manager ahahah
If you’re bored of standard sports and want a holiday game night full of insanity and comedy with broken limbs, and utter unpredictability; this might just be your ticket.
Which One Should You Play? And Why!!!
- For serious story-driven RPG fans: Go for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Switch 2. It’s polished, deep, and fits great if you want a big epic you can play anywhere.
- For chill, music-fueled vibes: Unbeatable is the wildcard. It’s a different tone — emotional, rhythmic, and perfect if you want something shorter, stylish, and artistic.
- For chaos, laughs, and friends over for the holidays: Mutant Football League 2 brings irreverent, violent fun that just doesn’t give a damn. You need friends for that though I hope you got that part covered xd
