It transitioned the game to free-to-play on Quick Match while Premium access unlocked Ranked and full content. Powered by a fresh engine and upgraded graphics, Siege X aims to deliver smoother performance and better visual flair—and yes, the textures look sharper than ever. Although personally I feel it could have been much better visually; the sound is amazing though!

Dual Front Mode: A Fresh Twist on Tactical Mayhem

Perhaps the most intriguing feature is Dual Front, a 6v6 mode blending attackers and defenders simultaneously. It’s tactical chaos—a blend of Siege meets Overwatch—that’s drawing curiosity and controversy. It’s so fucking confusing tbh and it took me a few matches to get used to it. I just hated getting killed at the same spot over and over again by an entire team camping and waiting for us to spawn/reach a specific spot. Tryharding sweats >:(

I do love the intro for it though, it looks quite funny with the different skins that players have equipped.

Visuals, Audio & UI: The Full Sensory Update

Visuals: Welcome to modernized lighting across classic maps like Bank, Chalet, and Kafe. Visual clarity got a boost—though performance varies, with some noticing FPS dips on Ultra settings. It also varies depending on the type of system you have, but overall it definitely is something.

Audio Rework: Goal: use sound for tactical advantage. Reality: walls echo, enemy audio tones off, and distant noises feel too muted. But somehow, imo that is better for me. Maybe that’s why I love the sound so much more.

UI & UX: Fresh navigation, communication wheel (which I barely use btw), weapon inspect, and revamped operator cards make Siege feel like a modern title.

Gameplay Tweaks & Map Enhancements

Siege X adds destructible environmental elements like gas pipes and fire extinguishers—small changes with significant tactical impact. Plus, rappel feels smoother, letting players slide around corners now. It’s little improvements like these that polish Siege’s core. You’re actually fucking Spider-Man now haha, it feels so much cooler on the rapple than it did before.

Clash Remaster & Operator Balancing

Defender Clash got a major rework: shield now deploys, she can sprint while holding it, plus tech fixes. And yep, Thatcher’s EMP now reliably zaps Team B’s electronics. Y10S2.2 patch also smooths bugs and buffs Dual Front mechanics (e.g. raising downed HP to 50).

Community Response: Hype and Headaches

Reddit’s buzzing with feedback:

“Siege X will do fine…it’s just a new engine and some performance tweaks.”
“Graphics look fantastic on Ultra but performance tanked—150 FPS vs 350 FPS before.”

Players are split—some welcome fresh tech and a lighter price tag, while vets critique buggy audio, matchmaking, and diluted map flow.

Bug Fixes & Patch Support

Ubisoft has been hot on bug fixes since launch, rolling out Y10S2.2 patch (July 2, 2025) which tackles audio glitches, UI errors, and Dual Front balancing. So far, Siege X isn’t perfect—but Ubisoft’s staying on top, suprisingly. I have always somehow managed to give Ubisoft shit because of how buggy half of their stuff is, and how annoyingly pay-to-win everything is.

My Take: Siege X Through My Eyes

Take this with a grain of salt. It’s not advice, just my opinion. I enjoy the game. It has SO MANY FKN bugs though and the fact that you can’t properly vault over certain broken walls or put the damn shields down in narrow corridors on time STILL pisses me off. But no game is perfect. Unlike my ex, there is still a LOT to enjoy from this game.

I’ve spent more hours than I’d like to admit stomping through lobbies. Siege X already feels familiar, yet fresh. Map redesigns are slick—and yes, I love sliding on rappel. I’m probably the ONLY person who enjoys the sound too, so maybe it’s not for everyone, and last I heard they were patching that as well. So…. win-win?

Newcomers might find praised Dual Front a fun entry, but seasoned vets may miss classic formulas. Seeing Siege goes free-to-play gives me hope for fresh blood in matches…just hoping they throttle cheaters better than before. There’s also special events and newer game modes that are fun, and I’m enjoying those. We currently have a cool “1800s Western” game mode and the designs are funky sick.

Final Verdict: A Bold Step Forward

👍 Pros

Engine and visual overhaul breathe new life into old maps

Dual Front mode offers refreshing chaos

Free-to-play model could revitalize the community

👎 Cons

Audio changes need polish (only according the reviews)

Performance dips still bug some rigs

Mixed opinion on Dual Front from the veteran base

Bottom Line: Siege X isn’t a total game-changer—but it’s a powerful evolution.
