Activation over phone took just under 12 minutes for a successful activation. So if those 12 minutes are worth saving 5 bucks, that's the tradeoff. :)

Excellent product. Activation by phone wasn't difficult but it lasted about 10 minutes. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
